Alicia Shaw

Alicia J. Shaw serves as the Project Coordinator for the ExPERT program within Towson University's Center for STEM Excellence. Ms. Shaw graduated from the University of Maryland College Park receiving a B.S. degree in Secondary Education with a concentration in the Biological Sciences. She later received a M.S. in Education Administration from Trinity University, Washington DC. Prior to joining Towson University, Ms. Shaw taught in the Prince George's County Public School system for eight years. During this time she was the science department chairperson, and taught classes in biology, AP biology, anatomy and physiology, and microbiology. At Towson University, Ms. Shaw works closely with teachers, research scientists and campus directors in order to organize summer research experiences for teachers in the labs of research faculty as part of the ExPERT program. Additionally, she plans and coordinates professional development workshops to support teacher learning communities throughout the school year, and evaluation activities surrounding the ExPERT program.
